Art, architecture and design, as well as Arts & Crafts, arise from the same principles of form-giving and craftsmanship. All art and design areas are scalable in form, order, size, proportions, material and structure when creating concepts and prototypes.
Architecture has been the most productive platform for design innovations throughout the history. Imhotep, Leonardo and the design Modernism have based their production on architectural thinking. Even computer science and software development is speaking about architecture. Later, nearly all design, art and architecture are based on the Bauhaus´ principles, which are moulded in the ´architectonic machine´.
The education period of a today‘s classical architect includes sketching, painting, graphics and sculpting. Also the architect student works with ceramics, woodcrafting, metals, glass, stone, collage, paper modelling and even origami, not to mention nude model drawing.
Finnish design chiefs with flexible and scalable morphologies. Alvar Aalto was a designer of glass products, furniture, details and buildings. Eliel Saarinen designed silverware, furniture, decorative items and buildings. Tapio Wirkkala was a designer and artist of glassware, kitchenware, tools, furniture and artworks.
The architect works with structures, materials, joints, foundations, customers, traffic, channeling, schedules, roadmaps, management, use cases, task flows, scaling, manufacturing, communication, and meaning.
All these tasks and respective skills prepare a possibility for the architect to make disruptive solutions, artefacts and details. Like Buckminster Fuller, architect can surprise with a car, Christopher Alexander created a pattern language for town planning, later used in software development, and Kevin A. Lynch showed way with wayfinding.
This extreme introduction has encouraged Mr. Risku to act on a wide scale of form-giving. The collection of objects, vehicles, artefacts and practical items arise from the interest to form-giving.

Winterfication of Segway
Segway is the humanly most mobile concept after walking and acting. In arctic conditions walking is on the third or fourth place of movement after skiing and snowmobiling. This winterfication concept to mobilize the arctic human being is an extreme approach to digitalize arctic exploration with a Segway. The project was finalized in January 2010 in Ivalo Lapland, 300 km North from the Arctic circle.

The Risku Segway has a winterfication package with arctic Segway clothing against cold, with spike wheels and a rider‘s gear to enable exploration in the Northern wilderness.
Design concepts vary from ideas, sketches, drawings, structures, prototypes, MVP’s (Minimum Viable Product) to functional and viable products, services and solutions. A concept holds it all – concepts are the DNA of real life entities.
Concept creation is the focus of a planner-designer’s work. Planning is system level creation and development, design is detailed form-giving and functional drafting.
